Last weeks of Warhol/Wei Wei at National Gallery of Victoria, ending 25 April, get on it! Don’t be the only Melbournian without a photo from this! 

Melbourne City Library: ‘Playful’ – a group exhibition curated by Sophia Cai in celebration of National Youth Week 2016. Playful features 18 Australian and international artists with works in soft sculpture, ceramics, textile, toy design and animation. Artists include Beci Orpin, Tessy King, Ashley Ronning and Cat Rabbit. Big West Festival 2017 Call Out ends 17 April. Big West are looking for site-specific art of any genre – sculptural, visual, sound, performance, dance, digital – intercultural, interactive, processional, tiny, immersive, and so on and so forth. Click the here for more info!

BLAKSTREAM applications close Sunday evening. Blakstream is an exciting new producers program available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples looking to up-skill and develop new pathways into the arts, culture and entertainment industry with a focus on the Indigenous sector.

No Vacancy exhibits ONELINE – a group show where artists are asked to create a work with one continuous stroke. Artists include GhostPatrol, Aaron Billings, Seven Seas, Carla McRae and more. 6-9pm. [CBD]

Come and join SAD by SAD WEST. A new art and music festival featuring 24 bands, 20 visual artists and 14 poets. Begins at 7pm [Footscray]

Gertrude Contemporary introduces ‘LA2016: New and Experimential Music Show’. 5-7pm [Fitzroy]

Diane Singer presents ‘The Goat Herder’s Cry (Four Sides of the Wooden Head)’ by Grant Nimmo. 6-8pm [CBD]

Neon Parlour Gallery & Studios is opening ‘Faces of Men’ by Benita Dass-Grasse. 6pm [Thornbury]

Juddy Roller Studios is exhibiting ‘The Black Ocean’ by Steve Cross. 6pm [Fitzroy]

For the first time, Bundoora Homestead Art Centre will host six leading contemporary artists, who will make new work in their galleries in an intensive residency from Wednesday 6 until Thursday 14 April 2016.  The exhibition of this work, Under Construction will open Friday 15 April until Sunday 12 June 2016.

Tuesday 19 April

Gallery Funaki [CBD] 5×7:early career Australian makers. Featuring the work of five recently graduated, Australia-based jewellers and object makers; Zoe Brand (ANU, Canberra), Annie Gobel (RMIT, Melbourne), Marcos Guzman (RMIT, Melbourne), Inari Kiuru (RMIT, Melbourne) and Lindy McSwan (RMIT, Melbourne).

Wednesday 20 April

Fifty-five presents ‘Twenty Two’ a group exhibition with talented local artists including live beats by Reeks. 6pm. [CBD]

LAB 14- Liquid Architecture, Carlton Connect Initiative and Naturestrip presents ‘Mechanical Cognition’. An innovative program of performative and artist talks. 6:30-8:30pm [Carlton]
